Not a Pad
2019 - Central Saint Martins
Produced a flag and manifesto to represent period poverty, and more closely the effects it has on menstruators in schools who don’t have access to sanitary products due to the cost or lack of availability in toilets, schools and the workplace, therefore using toilet roll or scrap fabric as an ineffective alternative. It was incredibly important to me that I added to the conversation around period poverty through a gender-neutral lens. Whilst I understand reclaiming pink and frills, it isn’t inclusive of all menstruators, and it doesn’t take into account that men and non-binary folk can have periods too.
Created using toilet roll, clear PVC tube, foam board, underwear red acrylic paint and a fabric pen.
